Discord is one of the most popular chat apps that you can use to stay connected, share your screen or even listen to music with your friends and communities. While you can add one of the Discord music bots to your server to listen to along with a community, Discord also offers nice integration with Spotify to show what you're listening to as your Connect Spotify to Discord. That way, your friends can discover new music, see what you're up to, and even listen in.
Connect Spotify 2021 to Discord
Today we are going to go through the methods that you can follow to connect your Spotify account to Discord on PC and mobile. You can use the Table of Contents button below to jump to the section that interests you.
Add Spotify to Discord account on PC
1. Log in to your Discord account from PC and click on the settings icon next to your username in the lower left corner of the screen. Clicking this will take you to Discord's settings page.
2. In the Connections section of User Preferences, click Spotify. Here you will see the option to connect your Spotify account along with accounts from other platforms namely Twitch, YouTube, Battle.net, Steam, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Xbox Live and GitHub. Click Spotify and wait for confirmation.
3. Once you click Spotify, a pop-up window will appear asking you to sign in to Spotify. If you've successfully signed in, you'll see your Spotify account in the Connections section of Discord.
4. The "Show Spotify as your status" toggle provides controls to enable or disable Spotify listening status. Meanwhile, if you want to add a link to your Spotify profile on your Discord profile, don't forget to turn on the "Show on profile" toggle. This allows your friends to easily access your Spotify account and play some of your favorite public playlists.
5. As you can see below, people on shared Discord servers now see what they're hearing, along with current progress. Others can join the listening session by clicking the Listen In button next to the Play on Spotify button.
6. Your friends on Discord can see what you're listening to in the Active Now section. For example, here's one of my friends who listens to Arctic Monkeys to cure his Monday blues.
Add Spotify to Discord account on mobile
1. Open the Discord app and tap on your avatar to access user settings. In the User Settings section, tap the Connections menu.
2. All your existing connections will be displayed here. If you've never connected Discord to any other service, tap the Add button in the top right.
3. Select Spotify from the list of services that will now appear. You now need to log into your Spotify account and authorize Discord.
4. One final step that you need to follow is to turn on Device Transfer Status Permission in Spotify Settings. This is required for Discord to see what you're listening to. After granting this permission, your listening status will appear on Discord, even if you're listening through the Spotify mobile app.
